Healthy Victory for the Democrats
Lot’s of work ahead for the Republicans

The Democrats achieved a healthy victory not only in Ohio but across the nation. The Republicans in Ohio and elsewhere need to learn from their mistakes. Throughout history, the Republicans were always ousted from office because of scandal, abuse, and criminal activities. In Ohio, our governor pled guilty to charges in the last couple of years. This caused Ken Blackwell’s defeat this year…and Ken was not that big a fan of Bob Taft even before Taft’s guilty plea. Ken was running the year the Dems hit a grand slam. Ken Blackwell will serve again in some capacity…He is too good a man to for his political career to be over.
I use the term grand slam because I heard Mike DeWine and Sherrod Brown talk baseball at a debate. November 7, 2006 was the bottom of the 9th in the championship game with two outs and nobody on. Mike DeWine, Ken Blackwell, and other Republicans were all on the field. I’d like to think of myself as a utility infielder on that team. We were up by three runs.
Ted Strickland singled hard to left field, and stole 2nd base to boot. Marc Dann was intentionally walked to get the possible force out. Then up came Jen Brunner. She hit a small can of corn just outside the reach of right fielder Betty Montgomery. Then up came Sherrod Brown. The Republicans relieved starting pitcher Bob Taft, and brought in Tom Noe. Noe threw one pitch that Sherrod Brown blasted to deep left field. Grand Slam…game over...the Dems win.
The moral of the story needs to go out to all Republicans across Ohio. I am going to list a few items that Republicans and conservatives need to get over in order to become a more successful party. We need to get over these things so we can win again in the near future:
1) I don’t care that Ken Blackwell is a black guy. He is a good human being, and a tremendous republican. If you voted against Ken because he is black…then get out of the party now. (Honestly…I don’t think the Democrats want you either…you may have to settle for the Nazi party).
2) If you disagree with 4% of what Mike DeWine has done, or 3% of his opinions, or 10% of his decisions in Senate….don’t be so stupid as to vote for Sherrod Brown. Because you were mad at Mike DeWine for one little stupid thing should not be a reason to vote in a Democrat. Congratulations if you voted this way, I hope you like killing unborn children and paying high taxes.
3) Please stand by your Republican candidate regardless of his/her sexual orientation. I thought the actions of some Republicans in Ohio House District 14 were appalling. Republican Candidate Bill McGivern had to fight off bigoted criticism from members of his own party because he is gay. (Please see point #1 above…I think the Nazi’s are calling for your leadership).
4) Republicans need to surround themselves with people of high integrity, and zero criminal activity. Being associated with people like Tom Noe destroyed the Republican chances of winning Ohio. This guy’s antics added gasoline to the fire already started by the National anti-Bush media. Had Taft not been a criminal nor had Republicans not been associated with Noe…we may have done much better. By the way little Republicans like Ed Herman on the West side suffered because Republicans were associated with these dirt bags. (Notice…I did not say I suffered. Had this crap not happened, I may have been able to muster 35% instead of 25%...but I digress)
5) If you are an elected official…and you plead guilty of a crime other than a speeding ticket, parking ticket, or jay-walking…please resign. I don’t care if you only had 2 drinks before the DUI…resign. The elected officials make laws that we must follow. Yes…Elected Officials must be held to a higher standed, and they should pay the price. (By the way…even if you don’t plead guilty…the same rule should apply if you are found guilty).
6) Republicans….RUN FOR OFFICE! No Democrat should run unopposed…ever. I have never seen a Republican run unopposed. I saw a few Democrats running unopposed…sickening.
7) Will some Republican please change their name to Dennis Kucinich and run against him??? If you win…it will be worth it to keep the name…trust me.
8) The Republicans need a youth movement. We need to recruit energetic 20 somethings to get out and fire us up. I have been labeled as a “young republican” by some. I will be 35 in Feb!!! When I think young…I am thinking…20 year old college student!
9) Republicans have a lot of work ahead of them. We still hold control of the Ohio house and the Senate. The Democrats are like hording Barbarians….even though they just sacked Rome does not mean they won’t be gunning for these entities in 2 years!!
10) VOLUNTEER – Please, please, please volunteer! You will meet great people in the process, and it will make you feel great! Not just that…but you will help people win office! Find a candidate in your neighborhood and VOLUNTEER!
In closing…we have a lot of work to do. The odd year elections usually are for local offices and mayors. This does not mean that these elections are not important. They are in fact more important to your wallet than you think. Now that the election is over, I can start to write about Parma once again. I called my opponent Tim DeGeeter to congratulate him on his victory. I told him that as a pro-life Democrat he will need to vehemently voice his stand over his party’s stance on the topic of abortion and embryonic stem cell research. I told him that a simple “no” vote against party lines will not be sufficient. I thanked Tim for running a good campaign. Now that the Dems have the governor’s mansion…I will be expecting to see all these “promises” the Dems made. If not…let the campaigning begin!!!

I really like Ed Herman and I appreciated when he ran against Kucinich a few years back. I never did learn much about Dovilla, but I'm to the point of voting for anyone in order to vote against Kucinich.
Josh Mandel seems promising.
